I see quite a few big bikes out here today, my favourite loop has been discovered

This is what the 4041 is all about, it climbs and it twists, I peaked at about 835 metres today compared to about 30 metres here in town

I can see the start of the Srinagarindra Reservoir

Now I am on the 3199, an equally twisty fun road

The best section of the 3199 is between the ferry ports as most vehicles take it leaving the road for me

Todays trip is my favourite loop in the Kanchanaburi area, its an awesome ride, perfect for motards

I'm glad I found this report Cap'n as I was about to ask if anyone knew if the road from the 3480 north of Nong Prue over the hills and joining up with the 3199 to Si Sawat had been paved yet!
I did this route with a pal on an Electra Glide and a Road King in April '06...... unfortunately on those behemoths we rarely got out of 2nd gear, but it was a terrific ride and as the first few km leading off from the 3480 had been paved I was sure it wouldn't be long till the whole thing was, making either a terrific loop for a day out from K'buri, or a very scenic meandering route to take on your way north up to Chiang Mai.

Thanks for posting these photos of of how it was before the surface was sealed Martin, I used to ride out past Si Sawat until the asphalt finished but as my maps showed nothing plus I didnt have a GPS in those days I never explored the unmade surface and didnt realise it looped back around.
Its probably been three or maybe four years since I first found it completely surfaced

I have tried to convince my wife we should drive that stretch of road and nearly got her to agree. That was until she spotted a bent and battered pickup at the junction which was all the proof she needed. No one travels that road because the elephants are wild and bad tempered. Rocks fall on whoever does venture out and one must not forget the gangsters around every bend.

Have you taken the ferry to the Huay Mae Khamin waterfall? And do you know if there is a road that loops through to Sangklaburi from there?

There is. Saves you some kms but you still have to ride the last section on the main road.
