Another pleasant ride around the local area yesterday, discovering more delights.
First find was the small Temple of Wat Ton Peaung at
N 18.80745
E 99.18119
The Temple serves a small community.
The resident Monk is a young looking 81 years old and very active despite being confined to a wheel-chair.
We broke convention and had a bit of a chat.
Then on a bit further to discover the large and elaborate Wat Doi Sio at
N 18.77029
E 99.17422
And then, feeling peckish and needing a caffeine hit, I searched around for a coffee shop/restaurant.
Past a few old original timber homes,
Much to my delight I stumbled upon the delightful 'Au Kow Au Nam' hidden down a laneway at
N 18.74756
E 99.14876
Very friendly owners who speak good English and a refreshing setting beside cooling rice fields.
Their children were doing home-work.
A bit of the comprehensive menu.
Joe is the owner and he's into motorbikes, saying "I could talk about motorbikes all day and all night!"
His friend in Bangkok owns the Indian franchise.
He is now aware of RideAsia and I'll give him a demo of the site when I revisit in the near future.
Only 58 kms but that coffee shop find was a definite highlight.
Then I rode home in the rain but I didn't care!
