Rainy season, overall mission progress can be, drastically longer than a dusty days time. The rewards are lush-ous colors, mud-bogs, wet boots and foot rot. Ya gotta really want to be out there....

Damn, MM, your pictures are just amazing....you have such a good eye for it and Phil is right...a book is in order for your future......Lucky you weren't on that bridge when it collapsed, either....And def makes you happy to change any number of MX tire flats when you see that huge truck tire.....NO WAY!!!!

Don- This this up in "the finger"? If yes, Mr. Bailey, who just bought a map will be intrigued by this for sure.

I'm also VERY interested in the route you took from Phonsavan to Phongsali, straight north following the Nam OU?

Don ....Phonsavan to Phongsali off-road.

Lots of people who've bought your map asking if this is possible and how difficult?

phongsaly-phonsavan-highway.jpg

full report, Fox News and the Vang Vieng Times.

New Link Phongsaly to Phonsavan

Direct link, Phongsaly (Tourist mecca of the North) to Phonsavan with its driving range, golf courses and soon (with UNESCO funding), giant shopping mall, built on Jar site number one.

Joint venture, the ghost of Vang Pao, Thaksin Shinawatra, Khun Sa, Ame Trandem from international rivers.

Along the route, unfriendly hydroelectric schemes will be built says,Ame Trandem .Its about time we stopped canvasing our suckker supporters for funds, when we can sell electricity!

With the blessing of the GOL, Thaksin as secured a 30meter "buffer zone" on each side of the highway. This buffer zone will provide housing for refuge "red shirts" and an uninterrupted string of Cell phone towers.

In a speech to the media. Khun Sa "Prince Prosperous" says, we will provide rickshaw service with unlimited ya ba and Opium to our riders. We will put the Chinese railway out of business, I hate the Chinese. When the word gets out to the hippy backpacking community, we will also put Vang Vieng out of business. A giant water park is in the works were we expect that at least 3 tourists a month will give their lives, while being inebriated and high as a kite.

Vang Pao denied comment.

GPS Road Psychopaths, are denied permission do divulge any and all data, information, about this project.

Bwahahaha! Had me going for a sec.

Nother flat, trail riding in between thunder showers.

My Irc tire picked this up on a lonely stretch of road, South of Ban Bountai. Dark clouds on the horizon and a mist of rain on the mountains ahead. If I don't hustle along this tube repair will be rather soggy!

Tire repair is accomplished by whacking in a new tube, hot patching is for emergency only. I would not want to be sitting in a mud-hole in the rain trying to flick the bic to light that patch!
