Heat Shield Material/Ceramic Coating

After doing the Cardamoms my exhaust heat shield on the gas tank burnt off next to the exhaust pipe. Now the fuel is more apt to boiling as hot as it gets down there.

I am looking for some peel and stick heat shield material to replace it plus also to cover more of my tanks and possibly the air box.

Can anyone recommend a product available here in Thailand that could withstand the heat? I have stopped at a dozens shops here in Ubon looking for something. It is either "no have" or I am sent onto another shop.

Looking for dielectric grease as well and they look at me like I have 3 heads.

I heard there was a place in Bangkok that does ceramic coating. I have tried to find out more but not getting anywhere.

I would like to find out if I could have the chrome stripped from my exhaust on my KTM 950 and have the pipes ceramic coated inside and out to cut down on the radiating heat.

Exhaust wrap is available at Chiangmai Diesel, and Richie at Richco Motorsports uses it on his custom bikes, 0810308307 so him a ring.
Probably your easiest, cheapest, and effective route.

I imported some ceramic exhaust coating but is does not stand up. I too am looking for a "Jet Coat" type product in Thailand but no luck so far.
Kumar Engineering in Lamphum was going to set up for it but not sure if he followed through.

No luck in dielectric grease and I imported 6 big tubes from the USA for myself and friends earlier in the year from Summit Racing.

I've always used ©Vaseline as a substitute because finding dielectric grease has been so hard.
 
Vaseline will not conduct (insulator), not at 12V anyway, maybe 12KV!

Try putting an ohmmeter into a tub of Vaseline

I thought about going that route but did not want to end up with Vaseline everywhere after the bike heats up.
 
I still haven't given up on my search for BKK powder coaters. It is Xmas and New Year so on the third if it is quiet here I will visit the one that sound promising to look at their products and get info on the coatings.

I use aluminium tape on the bottom of my tank and on air boxes etc., it is available in almost any hardware store and it does not come off.

In my old job we used to make our own heat shield material using aluminium foil (from Tesco Lotus), 200 gram fibre glass, 3M double sided hi bonding tape (wide rolls) and 3M spray on glue -the glue was sprayed on the fibre glass, the foil went on, flip it over and stick the double sided tape on the other side of the glass.

It worked well, never had any complaints of it coming off or de laminating, this was used on motorbike OEM parts on exhaust shields and similar, 4 years down the line now and I have not heard of any problems whatsoever.

The exhaust wrap is simply fibre glass, check with a fibre fabricating shop if they have some for sale, it is used for when an edge need to be a bit thicker than the rest of the panel -just to beef it up kind of.
 
Oh and I forgot... we looked into other types of heat shields but we could not find locally available stuff, the ceramic stuff is great but had to be imported from Italy, the price was mental!
 
I used ordinary kitchen foil to reflect heat away from my battery on my Ducati works like a treat .

Tu at the Triumph dealer in Chiang Mai arranged for my exhaust to be done on my Harley, they did an exvellent job.
