So besides the obvious anyone have any experience with these bikes? Are they setup more moto than enduro? I am more interested in the performance, reliability opinions. I have a lead on one that would cost about the same as a beater XR 250.

I would probably take the beater xr.. Or put a bit more into a used klx..

This bike has been discontinued, it is not produced nor imported anymore so good luck getting spare parts (and you'll need a lot). Between the 2 bikes you mentioned you should go for the old XR.

Really.. I can't see any appeal in a parts limited China bike..

If the budget is tight get a klx or xr.. plenty around.. even seen a few klx 300 on mocy for around that money but without plates.. an xr might be basic, but a well sorted one is tough and good enough for trail rides..

Or hunt for a decent smoker.. More work to find and parts are a concern but lighter and a bit more go..

That or bite the bullet and spend on something tidy.. Jamie had an appealing looking ktm at a fair price.

But buying one of these.. no local parts.. low quality components.. just a recipe for ongoing stress..

My 2 satang.

yes I get all that, buy the Mercedes not the Hino but has anyone ridden one of these or know someone who has owned one?

11 pages of discussion on that bike here, but doesn't look like they know what they are talking about. Fact is the bike is no longer in production, and no one knows the specs except that it comes with a massive 49mm carb :

If you're on a very small budget get an old XR as everyone suggests, they are reliable and easy to maintain.

I spoke to someone who had used one.. He said it was basic.. Power not motocross like.. Mid 20 something horsepower was his seat of the pants feel.. Lighter than a klx but worse components.. He said stuff like chain and sprockets were crap and needed changing out.. Etc..

Would make me wonder how much needs changing out after a year of riding..

That's second hand bar stool talk.. Take it for what it's worth..

When on a budget, parts supply is everything.. I have 4 bikes none of which has Thai parts supply.. I am constantly sending stuff, waiting for stuff, arguing about import duty, tracking packages, worrying about lost ones.. It's a ball ache.. The bike that you buy for 50k versus the one you buy for 80 can rapidly chew through that difference.. Is a trail prepped klx so unappealing ?? Sure it's not light or powerful, but is it not enough on a budget ??

To me it's like 60 to 100k in a klx, or xr, and just ride and enjoy it, limitations be damned.. Or step up to the 150 to 200
K plus range for wr, KTM, etc etc.. Either end of the cheap and parts or Gucci and pay.. Every once in a while something else pops up, lews kdx, the yz, but not often.. And performance biased bikes with unknown history of maintenance ??

Did Rossi get his KTM 4 stroke sold ??
