This past week there was a GMS crossborder meeting in Chiang Mai.
Representatives from Greater Mekong Subregion of six countries comprising Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and China, along with Asian Development Bank, joined the meeting.
The underlying importance of the meeting, was the recent (permit) huge restrictions that had been put in place on Chinese Vehicles entering Thailand & if there was a solution to relax the restrictions.
Our senior contacts at Thai DLT have told us no relaxation in the restrictions for Chinese vehicles will happen.
At the first stage, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and China, except Myanmar, will embark on issuing GMS road transport permits and temporary admission document for vehicles.
When the procedure is complete, the transport crossing the border can be operated immediately.
