Took the 11 out to Lampang from Chiang Mai & headed towards Denchai

Stopped at a delightful coffee shop just over the Nam Mae Chang bridge (just after the road widening roadworks.

Continued along the 11 towards Denchai until the road changes to the 101 & the massive reclining Buddha on the right.

There is so much to see here & as with all temples, it is god to revisit after a couple of years to grasp the updates.

Went into the town of Denchai on the old 101 & found some food & then continued out onto the main 101 towards Phrae.

At Phrae, I turned left onto the 1023 & headed back southwest towards Long. What a fabulous road that is. Actually, it's one of those stretches of tarmac you feel like turning around and doing again. Great fun ride.

Along this road on the left is a very strange place.

This place I now find via googling, is listed in the Phrae Tourisim of Thailand Brochure... wow !

What a useful document that could be if compiled with detail ...:WTF

An interesting find there Ally, good to see you making the time to get out and ride occasionally again now

After compiling my post above, I started to think that maybe I hadn't searched the internet enough for the Maharat Rock Garden history.

Sad to say that even after another load of searches, the net turns up very little history or detail on the place, just loads of other peoples images.
