Big storm in Honsa overnight, the heavens opened but to my surprise in the morning it was down to a drizzle. Good enough to venture on to Luang Prabang.
The road from Hongsa to Luang Prabang is mostly a 2 lane through a mountainous jungle, paved with wear areas a hard packed gravel. Appears that the gravel areas had recent improvements and not severely potholed likethe 13B to Oudumxai.
Caution is required because the rain has caused landslides but it is a most pleasant ride through some remote areas. Not much emphasis on schooling for these hilltribe kids as they are joined to the workforce early and can be seen walking up steep hills with fully laden baskets secured to their heads.
Hilltribe boys cutting down green bamboo and stripping it for weaving
The kids swimming hole, communal bathing area and village water supply has just gotten a whole lot dangerous
Happy village life along the way
Day 4 to be continued.......
