Fancied Kaow ka moo for lunch in Hot & was interested to see the progress of the 3035 Canal Road extension to by pass both Hang Dong & San Patong joining up the 108.

Start of the new road. 2 lanes each side of a central divide - you can take your pick & play 'chicken' if that takes your fancy.

The surface is solid 98% of the way, with a very short strip still being completed with the black stuff.

Then a U-Turn back north again, via the country roads through orchards and enjoying the roller coaster style road.

Hi Tim, indeed, a real blessing.

As for the weather, photos don't show the temperature ;) Hot, very hot or furnace hot ! Makes it uncomfortable to stop, you just have to keep moving.

Ally thanks for sharing, that is one of my favorite stretches and i also include the back roads into Mae Wang. Quiet village ride so close to Chiang Mai without the traffic. And see elephants upclose and bathing in the river.

It's good to be able to bypass that 'orrible Hang Dong stretch.
Looks like the weather has improved, clear and even slightly green?

Last couple of days the views have been crystal clear here but as mentioned...hot!!

Around Phrao 2 days ago very green as well.

One of my fave shortcuts to backroads as well. Have you found the 'Buddhs on the Hill' and the cave carvings just down from Mae Wang? Nice loop from there to Samoeng too.

Tim, thank you so much for mentioning that area. It instantly rejuvenated interest to look at some old posts of mine that I made prior to the start of RideAsia (2011)

So much so - I think I will head out on the 1013 very soon, although the Versys will not be visiting Wat Luung Khun Win !!
