Chiang Khong border ferry now open on Sundays

Thai / Laos border ferry crossing at Chiang Khong / Houay Xai (Sai) now operating on Sundays


Daniel from Singapore gave the border crossing at Chiang Khong / Houay Xai (Sai) a shot on a Sunday (used to be the case that it was closed on Sundays) and was pleasantly surprised to find the the Mekong ferry crossing was in operation. A great discovery for all of us.

Available - but maybe only a couple of ferry runs a day... 6.5 hours sat waiting yesterday as just missed 1st ferry run. From Laos to Thailand, went about 8:20 and 15:20 - but don't rely on them times.

Chris - Can you confirm that Chiang Khong, Thailand Customs were open all day on Sunday?

I didn't go in Customs (that would have been a bad idea, I think) so can't confirm 100%. But, Immigration Arrivals told me to go there yesterday (Sunday) - so guess it was open. Once I had my passport, i got out of there sharpish...
