Selamat datang di Ride Asia - guess there are quite a few more curves on the Maehongson loop than the 1000(+0) you mention. I agree with you that is a lot of fun riding these roads - a bit like the Puncak pass between Bogor and Bandung which I had to ride many time when I lived in Bandung from 1978 to 1986.

I have had such good times in Indo.. Would love to get back and spend a couple of months. Really diverse.

Well done. I have fond memories of riding in Java in 2012. Its a pity more people don't take the time to explore the areas off the main highway through.

I loved poking around some of the smaller coastal villages too

I am back in Australia at the moment... but I have bikes in Laos and Thailand too.

on the top of your head, what u would and would not reccomend mate?heading there end jan-feb ..rough plan, all the way to the east coast of Nusa Tenggara (as far as possible ;)

I have just been a few days in Solo waiting for the worst Ramadan mayhem to calm down. I had my bike serviced at Rocketz Checkpoint shop and the owner gave my bike several small but important upgrades. He is a skilled mechanic, a bike rider himself for both sportbikes and adventurebikes. And most important of all, he is a very friendly, helpful and nice guy. So is the rest of his lovely family.

So if your bike needs service or repair and fixes and your on Java Indonesia - this is the place to go. There are several hotels and homestays nearby and many restaurants so its all very conveniant.

Regards from Kurt Gøran Andersen - aka Snakeboy

Thanks for the info Kurt looks like another place to put on my to do list in the near future.

Good to see people on the old Jawa motorcycles, simply but effective transport, if i recall they have a kick starter come gear shift design.

I certainly do recognize my Vario Rocketz. Daryl was very impressed by the work you did on the bike. Said it handles so much better now, faster and more fuel efficient too. I am looking forward to checking it out for myself when we get back home in May. All the best to you and your family. Selamat Tahun Baru. Hope 2017 is a good one for you.

@merantau...yes it is....i have change the rear shock and rebuit fron forks,so it got more grip and good feedback.engine was rebuilt on belt, roller and carb.it was fast...but if you find it later slow.its because Daryl eat lots of local street food he loved..so the bike got more load from the rider, not the road..l.o.l
