Blasted down to Mae Sariang with some friends from the UK for some trail riding.

Second day deep in the jungle on the trail to Tha Tha Fang put rock through the crank case. Epoxy and some toilet paper as a medium to hold everything in place while curing did the job perfectly.

More to come

Bet he gets a sump guard after that

55 crossings bloody hell Phil you'd have web feet after that. Interesting trail that dry river bed would be fun in the rainy season ?

A bit difficult for me to tell from the photo here Phil, but do you believe your sump guard would have prevented the rock damage?

George, who lives in the UK had ridden with us 3 years through Laos and had a fantastic time. Biily, George's son had been touring through SE Asia and they agreed to meet up and do some off road exploring with me around north Thailand, they thought it would be easy.

This is Billy kissing the tarmac, glad to be back on it.

We took R 1009 (road to Doi Inthanon) to get towards Mae Chaem with a dirt loop to test how the boys were off road. Everyone did fine so we pushed on towards Mae Sariang.

We stayed in different GH's in Mae Sariang every night to try them out. First night, the Northwest GH, big room, aircon., private bathroom - 300 Bht, good value.

Logistical problems getting the bike out of there, best option was to drop it off the cliff

Towards Tha Tha Fang, I had oil dribbling out of the engine, as expected a rock had punctured the engine side case

Always carry baby wet wipes, epoxy and a small file. Get the area super clean with wet wipes, file the area where the epoxy will bond to get a good mechanical bond, clean everywhere again, let it dry, size up a piece of toilet paper or bandage to saturate with epoxy to keep the epoxy in place and let dry.

Put the mend area in the sun to speed up the curing process

Good stuff Phil!

Can't help but wonder what the little lad in blue is thinking about this strange Alien ritual.

Amazing pics Phil, why didn't you bring the 300 for the trip?

Next ride out there let me know, I'm in!

The trail south from Tha Tha Fang to Mae Sam Laep is an easy pickup trail with a couple of stream crossings, the views of the Salaween river are spectacular

Everyone had the most fantastic day, this is one of the best off road days in Thailand. We gave the new River Bank GH a shot in Mae Sariang for the night. 700 Bht on the river pretty nice.
