Interesting concept, expensive to make though with 3 separate cylinders.

Why would anyone put three cylinders on one crank pin? Maybe HD would but definitely not BMW!

Just by looking at the drawing you can see that an inline triple would be narrower than that W configuration.

Looks to me that the patent drawing shows more than 90 degrees between front and rear cylinders.
