Bangkok to Chiang Mai sleeper train

Bookings can be made on line here (top right)

¡ÒÃöä¿áË觻ÃÐà·Èä·Â - STATE RAILWAY OF THAILAND,

at Bangkok's Hualamphong station or through travel agents. If the train is fully booked for a 1st class sleeper cabin (ticket price 1,300 - 1,700 Bht) , try SK Travel upstairs in Hualamphong station, the agents buy tickets in advance for tour packages and for an additional 500 Bht a ticket they (SK) can source and arrange a 1st class sleeper berth to be resold to you, very useful to know if your plans are a mess.

1st class sleeper cabins have 2 beds, for around 3,000 Bht you could book the cabin for yourself. You can bring as much luggage as you want, which is a huge advantage because its such a hassle with the low cost airlines

Clean sheets, blankets and pillow cases are given out. The aircon was freezing bring a jacket too

Is one way I was thinking of dragging the DRZ down to Samui.. Take a long time but does avoid a lot of Rd miles that the dizzy wouldnt be ideal for..
