Three of us met at PTT on #107 and headed towards the Mae Taeng area.
Derek on his NC750X.
New friend Oliver on his 20 year old Phantom.
Me on the trusty Rebel 500.
We decided to ride from #107 along the very enjoyable #3009, onto #1095 then right and along #3052 and #4061.
Back to #1095 then across #107 along #1414 onto #1001 then the latter two rode the backroads into Doi Saket.
This is Wat Prakat Tham on #3009.
A Church of Christ on #3009.
A new Spirit House beside #3052.
Delightful riding along here and we chose a day that was relatively free of the wretched smoke pollution.
Mountain view from #3052.
Quite a few 'Glamping' sites, also BnBs and Resorts out there.
Our favourite road sign!
A random paw-paw tree growing beside a crystal-clear trickling stream.
The lone palm tree.
We stopped here at this Aussie owned BnB but it was closed for ten days because a staff member had inherited the dreaded WuBug.
So we walked across the suspension bridge for a view along the Nam Mae Taeng.
Feeling a bit peckish we called into the very pleasant Cafe in Wild to refresh beside the stream.
This area was devoid of tourists and many business owners must be seriously hurting by now.
We had the whole place to ourselves.
Then an elephant sanctuary was nearby on #3052.
No tourists.
An interesting, I think, Burmese style Temple of #4061.
Back at the #107 junction this was getting a lot of business.
A pleasant break in the shade next to the Royal Golf Course on #1414.
And we all headed home.
(Map supplied by Derek).
About 170 very pleasant kms with no dramas (well, there was the black ute that nearly took out Derek on a mountainous curve).
And the dog and the schoolboy.
Oh, and the school girl on her scooter who apparently didn't see me approaching from her right (spot lights and bright orange vest on)
as she exited a laneway and turned right in front of me.
But, hey, that's all part of the fun of riding in Thailand eh?
