This from Riders Digest;

1938 Killinger und Freund art deco streamliner/"bagger", with front wheel drive from a three-cylinder 600cc rotary valve 2-stroke mounted within the front wheel. Only one was believed to have been built. Pic shows it being found during the Allied liberation in 1945. Current status unknown...

That's a classic,motor mounted in the front wheel using rotary valve induction.

My '73 KX 90 had a rotary valve. Kawasaki was using them on their dirt bikes and road racers of the era but gave up on them towards the end of the 70's as being not the most efficient way of doing the job.Rotax too.
Mine had a problem when it warped and took a long time to work out what was wrong with it.

Hmm... that'd be interesting, trying to turn it. Lots and lots of unsprung weight as well as the gyro effect (hey, I'm no physics prof, but...._)
