Alternative way to de-restrict the KLX 250 ?

Wow yes I read this yesterday. Very crafty of Kawasaki to put it there. I wonder if they had some idea of having some sort of mapping selector at that side. I see no other reason for it to be located there.
Nice find and should literally take less than five minutes to complete. I would suggest finishing it off with some heat shrink as its very exposed the way they've left it.

Amazing it's taken all these years for someone to figure that out!

If it works its just what I'm looking for. will try it tomorrow and report back :hmm

many japanese market bikes have that deristrictor fitted i had a japanese market VFR 750 in UK which was restricted to 112mph with just such a limiter when removed the bike would do 145mph .

Was going to try that myself, to see if it makes any difference to the way mine has been derestricted already
I read you connect the 2 terminals with a small piece of wire, then reconnect the plugs

Well .... what can I say !? ..... literally a five minute Job .... And Its a different Bike. haven't tested the top speed yet but I'm sure its 130kph + . Wish I knew how it worked and I'm glad I didn't do the 'snip' or by a new ECU :D

Looks like you've helped a bunch of KLX 250 riders LR.

Mines been running with this derestriction for half of the holiday Ron, no problems whatsoever but you have to remember if you press the starter when its in gear it jumps forward though

I did this on Tuesday, however all I did was make a shorting link as per the German website, and just inserted it into the plug as shown in the photos. Then electrical tape and cable tied it all together without removing the loom from the plug.

The rev range has increased, before doing this max revs were between 7-8000 rpm now it goes 10,000 +

Phil I found it just lets it rev more in the top four gears, at lower rpm I didnt detect any difference whatsoever and no change in fuel consumption either
