USD$ 276.00 from here at the bottom: Suzuki DRZ400 Parts, Performance, & Accessories - ProCycle

The Alpinestars Scout is a very comfortable boot made especially for the dual-sport, adventure rider. Comfortable enough to walk around in yet protective enough for those off-road adventures. The polyurethane coated leather and inner boot membrane make this dance slipper 100% waterproof. A simple three-buckle closure system with a hook-and-loop top flat make for quick entry and exits. These are small enough to pull your jeans over the top and fit inside your ride pants. Available in black only.
Additional features include:

  • Outer and inner ankle protection from innovative, double-injected TPU section with different Durometer (hardness) values and thicknesses to allow protection and flexibility all in one section
  • Internal shin reinforcement layered under the leather
  • Mesh liner for comfort and breathability
  • Removable padded footbed provides shock absorption and impact protection
  • Stitched sold has a unique rubber compound for exceptional grip and durability

Look really nice

I've considered those, and similar dualsport boots from Gaerne and Forma
Forma Boulder Dual Sport Boots by Atomic-Moto

Just wondering about the pro/cons of waterproof boots in the tropics. Being waterproof they wouldn't breath too well ?

I have these boots and bought them specifically for my Eurasia tour and I wanted waterproof boots

THEY ARE NOT WATERPROOF

That is correct, I rode for 2 months in Europe and it rained every day, these boots leaked and until I got some sealskinz socks I had cold wet feet every day

My cousin bought a pair and he rode with me and his leaked as well

So far Alphinestars have fobbed me off to different places and in the end I gave up

DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL

That said, they are a good boot for riding, just not in the wet

As expected they are very warm when it is not raining, so your feet get very hot in the desert

Not a good boot for the tropics, nor Europe for that matter

Why would they be hotter than waterproof, plastic ( so your feet are sealed inside plastic) motocross boots?

Not sure if this is directed at me, but with no vents I noticed the heat a lot more than my older vented boots

I would steer clear of any boots with waterproof membranes like Gore-Tex.
While I don't have any experience with waterproof motorcycle boots, I have loads of experience from the military with using military boots with Gore-Tex membranes, both running around on the ground and riding my issued bike for a couple of years.
Some work, some leak, but if water comes in either from a leak or over the top into the boots, you will have wet feet for days. They are very hard to dry out.
General consensus in my circle of military professionals, on waterproof lined boots, seems to be that non lined, treated leather is better.

Every year we become a big shock what´s happend to our boots, when we come back to Thailand. All the plastic protectors, clips and stuff are totaly rotten, sticky and dusty. It breaks easyly and sometimes the boots do not survive 2 seasons. Somebody told me, there must be a lot of ozone in the air. Not good!
Leather boots are a much better choice in Thailand. With a little grease sometimes, they can survive you.
