Last year on June 28, while I was driving my puppy dog Nero to a vet visit in Surin, driving way below the speed limit (max 50Km/h) alongside road works in lefthand lane, a professional driver with a truck(over)load full of gravel started passing everyone - of course invading the passing lane of the other side - causing a lady, travelling way to fast for her driving skills, to loose control and after swerving like a chicken crossing the road ended up hitting me head on. This was the result:

I ended up with some torn ligaments in the right foot (landing me in a cast for a few weeks), some air-bag burns on my left arm and a nasty bruise and swelling on my right arm...some nice black spots that showed where seatbelt did it's job...but nothing to worry really.

The next day we met at the police station, both insuraces present, report written and signed...the insurances agreed that my truck would be repaired at U Soun See in Surin, a garage on highway 226 just exiting Surin in direction Buriram on the left hand side 50m after the last traffic light. They also agreed to pay hospital bills, rental for the repair time etc etc

Today, almost a year later, the truck is not finished and I haven't even been reimbursed the towing never mind all the other bills.

U Soun See took 9 months to work like this:

Overheating the steel and burning holes into the frame in an attempt to str8n it...which was unsuccessful of course but that didn't prevent them from just wrapping everything and handing it back to us.

The first day I had the truck back after nine months of repairs I noticed a weird sound from the engine, intercooler busted and other things still leacking, timing belt rubbing on the broken cover that wasn't changed, broken water pump not replaced, air stopped working and the front bumper fell off.
To my surprise the bumper had no screws in place, no clips either because they had to cut portions off to fit it so they just glued it on with black latex caulking...a real shitty piss poor job that screams "farangs are idiots they don't know better"...

why was the intercooler busted??? who knows???

So I took a closer look and discovered a series of other things, like an airfilter that was falling around no snorkel on the fender, a bent fender, superthin paint without primer underneath, plaster falling off the frame, welded old hydraulic pipes making up the steering lines etc etc etc

So the truck went to Toyota and it took the insurance another 2 months to work out a repair deal that they could live with and approved this:

After I got in touch with a friend at Toyota investor relations they changed their minds at Toyota and called the insurance back explaining that they could not in good conscience proceed with such a shady repair and now changing the entire front frame section, along with all the other old crap and messy jobber shit those IDIOTS at U Soun See installed.

I'll post the progress in a few days or weeks depending how long it takes, in the meantime the Surin Governor's office is sewing the lady's insurance (Bangkok Insurance) who have been playing indians for the past year...and as for my insurance...well, depending how this ends they will get either a little mention or a massive add campaign like they never seen, but one they won't like because this entire mess was caused by the manager in the Surin office who's on the take from U Soun See...and that is why it took us going to the BKK office to complain before something moved in the right direction.

Not a bike...but shitty all the same! TIT too...

Sucks.. The problem is they never agree write offs and total loss payouts.. I have seen a car totally banana'd around a light pole, an old car only worth 125 or so 1000 but no they felt it would be fixed for 60 to 80k.. Managed to get a Thai to buy the wreck and get the payout and assume it's now crabbing along the road somewhere.

Another buddies car got flooded to the roofline in an underground car park flood.. Electric problems forever..

That's ugly.

I always say it's a small price we pay to enjoy the land of smiles...but sometimes it does get a little taxing doesn't...not many insurance companies are actually good here in Thailand...I remember my "buddy" had Allianz and they were good, and on the ball. No questions and no issues, top service and proper repairs, courtesy vehicle without having to ask for it.
