A different loop out of Chiang Mai

Getting tired of day loops on the northern sector out of Chiang Mai, we thought we'd try something different. Some fast riders, so this should be a fun ride and maybe over early in the day.

R 1184 south of Lamphun is an untouched gem with very little traffic. We hadnt ridden it in sometime so its condition was a mystery (fingers crossed). We needed another way south from Chiang Mai to make a loop. R 106 that some take when headed towards Mae Sot is a decent ride.

Not much re-grouping needed most riding pretty quickly

Hit some roadworks on R 106, luckily there was only 2 small sections like this, R 106 was in decent condition

An unexpected, fantastic lunch stop on Nam Mae Moei Resevoir, looks like it might be an excellent camping spot too

Decent quality fried rice and friendly ladies. Looked like a place that might have lots of friendly ladies later by the size of the kareoke machine.

We had a go at getting to the Pagoda on the other side of the lake but failed, not really on the right machines either

All safely back north and following the Ping River on R 3012 back towards Chiang Mai ... The experimental new loop was a success.
