Distance 96 km
An interesting fuel guage on the Wave, usually on bikes the needle goes down slowly then the last half tank quickly disappears.
This now shows empty but the tank only took 3.96 litres whereas it holds 5.4 litres so still another 1.4 litres left.
I am happy with 254 km from 4 litres of fuel though
The Nam Mae Rim that flows partly alongside the 3009
Lets see whats down this track
I had never noticed the weir before
Todays plan was to ride to the end of the 3009 then explore some tracks off the 1095 that were not on Auke's map but things got changed as just past here there was a paved road going off to my left that wasnt on the map
At the end of a turning I was greeted by this, pointless venturing in there me thinks as the bike will definitely get stuck and I cant imagine the track goes very far anyway
A nice hint of colour in the hedge
A side dirt track is a pleasant ride
The banana plantation is the end of the track
A bit of single track on the ride back as the track splits in two
Good choice of tyres
As I ride off he has climbed down inside the water tank
At the end of another track this lady is sorting her vegetables out
Two guys on a bike disappeared along here so I go after them to see if it goes through to anywhere
Good view from up here
They were carrying fishing rods so I guess its fair to assume they have gone fishing
A good few side tracks go off the main one and a lot of these tracks link up with one another
The Wave is being introduced to proper offroad riding today
Now riding through an orchard
A water crossing
Its a mixture of these dry tracks and lots of mud too, I am impressed with the grip from the offroad tyres going down wet slippery hills, especially as I am riding them at 29/29 psi which is what the road pressures are
The guy speaks fluent English, his wife is Canadian and a teacher here in a local village.
I wondered wheter to bother riding along this muddy track as it only went to the river, or so I thought
To my surprise this old bridge went over the river, I walked it first to make sure it was safe to ride over
I thought he wanted me to move my bike so he could ride over the river
But no he was off down that single track with his trailer
I rode over the bridge and the paved road on the other side took me back to the 3009, there were other roads going off but they can wait for another day so I ride back across the bridge to carry on exploring
A turning takes me to lots of cattle
This one was licking the outside of my crash helmet and the Waves bodywork
Initially I was expecting to have to ride back to the 3009 the way I rode in but the further south I rode the closer I was to reaching a paved road on Auke's map and by the vehicles heading north it was obvious I could reach it and a loop was found
A fun days exploring with more unmapped tracks left for tomorrow
Dinner was at 3 Little Pigs tonight
A monster po boy for 225 Baht
