Its christmas morning and I enjoy a nice spicy chicken khao soi for breakfast

The village I am about to ride to, does its name translate to Ban Pong Fun or fun village?, of course sanuk probably means five different things depending on the tone

The 3012 has a pleasant new surface

Once offroad I soon encounter these friendly playful dogs

Their mother was only interested in barking though

According to both my GPS there were hardly tracks to be found but I found lots with some good linkups too

Some of the tracks go to the edge of the Huai Nam Hi Reservoir

IMG_1061.JPG
They had cut an awful lot of trees down
IMG_1062.JPG

IMG_1063.JPG
I guess some were going in here to make charcoal
IMG_1064.JPG
On the ride home and most of the dogs were running along
IMG_1065.JPG
This one preferred a lift

Chicken and cashewnuts 120 Baht plus 10 Baht for the rice, the most expensive of the four restaurants that I have tried for this dish and by far the least appetising.
I wont be coming here to eat it again, also the rice was only lukewarm and once I ate a bit of it the rest was cold so I soon took it back for a fresh plateful.
This place is on the river with a nice view, possibly that is what you are paying extra for as its definitely not the flavour of the food

I do the best chicken & cashews Colin (only I don't put chicken in it!).

Sanuk has but one meaning. Fun & enjoyment. Pong is nowhere to be found so I must assume it is a name (and it sounds like a name). And when you think of the extraordinary names of some English villages . . . . . . . .

Festive greetings Colin!

That chain saw came in handy ;) I fully expect to see it strapped to the back of the bike on the next ride ;)

Thanks for sharing the real Thailand with us here, brilliant scenes from very 'normal' lives.
