Total distance 123 km
Photos last to first
A sweet dessert 10 Baht
A double portion of chicken curry and rice from the Muslim restaurant at the Wednesday market 70 Baht
Just about to rejoin the 108 and a fun loop that was rode and mapped today is finished
Mondays heavy rain didn't go south of the 108 as these tracks were bone dry all the way back to it
Riding through lots more villages now
His valuable contribution
I could do without this guy though
I am glad this lot wasn't on fire today
The bikes across, mission accomplished and another fun exciting loop has been found and added to the map.
No sign of any BMWs on the GS Trophy out here though, only small humble Japanese bikes
The cattle have an easier crossing but there is no way to get the bike down and up again
I walk back over then take the bike across
I walk across the bridge and it didn't seem so daunting today, whether it was a lower water level or those rocks they have placed between the logs I don't know
Less water now then there was in december
I left a waypoint here in December and thankfully kept it which guided me to the bridge today
The double track on the other side of the river
For the last km its a single track rough and rocky in places which I wasn't expecting as I thought the bridge was for 4WD vehicles
In the distance I can see the river below
These two tell me what I want to hear, Mae Sariang this way, the only fly in the ointment will be crossing the bridge but I will worry about that when I get there
Now in Ban Huai Wok which was the end of the track on my last trip, I asked back then if I carried on could I get to Mae Sariang and was told no so I rode back the way I went in.
Since then there has been a lot of mapping done west of here and a couple of months ago Jasmine (Mistral) and I rode to within three km of here to a long log river crossing but didn't cross over as neither of us felt comfortable doing it and it only looked like a single track on the east side.
I always remem, bered a track carrying on west from this village and if there is a way to reach that bridge it has to be from here so today I am going to look for it
They are chatty and friendly here but a bit camera shy
There is a village marked on the map, Huai Chang (Huai Bok) that doesn't appear have a track going to it so I put that right and its a paved track too
There are a couple of sections where the surface has yet to be paved but there been a lot more paved then on my last trip here three or four years ago on the KLX 250
Lots more ridge line riding to come
Quite why she was sitting in the back I don't know but she seemed very happy there and cheerfully waved as they drove off
This river shows the level was a bit higher after mondays heavy rain but the countryside and more importantly the dirt tracks were bone dry
A twisty fun road with ridge line riding and lots of villages to ride through
Time to explore the 3005 again for its full distance
