Distance 386 km
I rode out of town at 6.40 this morning and it felt freezing, my hands were very cold which wasnt the nicest feeling
Travelling light as its only the one night away
Fog is the last thing I need and its like this for a few km, even with the windproof liner in my jacket it was a cold journey to start with
At Chiang Dao it brightened up and when I stopped as long as I was in sunlight the temperature wasnt too bad but the windchill factor while moving made it a lot colder
Approaching Fang now, the 107 is a pleasant road once it gets twisty
Lunch time and as I am cold all over the ham and cheese sandwich from the fridge at the 7-11 was replaced by one of these for my lunch, 39 Baht and good value for the money.
From here it was a ride up highway 1 to the border, despite it being midday it was still a bit cold
Tobacco growing roadside approaching Mai Sai
Myanmar to the left and Thailand to the right.
One thing I found out today was they will accept $10 instead of 500 Baht here, I didnt bother getting any as I thought they wanted more at this crossing
Plenty of time so I take the scenic route to Chiang Rai
Its okay out in the sun but anywhere I am in the shade and its cold at only 14.30
Over 1000 metres high now
This road is busy with bikes
A village down there
Its over the border though and no entry is permitted
A pleasant ride along here
Large portion of chicken and cashews with rice at Muang Thong restaurant in Chiang Rai 130 Baht
